The price of milk will increase very soon
News - Short News
Written by PIA
MANILA, Jan 26 – Due to price increase of materials in the manufacture of liquid milk, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo made public on Tuesday that the prices of liquid milk products will soon increase, probably in the next two weeks or next month. In an interview with Senate reporters, while in the Senate for his nomination hearing at the Commission on Appointments, Domingo said that the price of condensed and evaporated milk will increase by 5 to 10 percent in the next two weeks or so.
Domingo said that the looming price increase might be linked to the increase in gasoline prices since an increase of the latter would definitely affect transportation costs; this, in parallel, leads to an increase in the delivery cost of products.
Domingo noted, however, that he expects oil prices to drop once the winter season in the United States and Europe ends. He explained that once winter passes, the demand for oil will also drop.
"So hopefully bumaba na ang presyo (Hopefully, oil prices will drop by then)," he said.
Domingo further added that he is not aware of any other products that might increase its price anytime soon.

Buses plying Metro Manila reduced by 17%

Manila (26 November) -- Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino, in an interview at NBN 4's Talking Points, said the Number-Coding scheme for buses covers all types of buses (provincial & Manila based) within Metro Manila.
The effectivity of the scheme is from 7am-7pm, Monday to Friday. The Chairman said since its implementation, the volume of buses in NCR has been reduced to an average of 17 per cent per day.
24-hour tv-camera supervision of Manila streets
He also mentioned that the MMDA has plans of adding more closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras around Metro Manila to monitor traffic situations and possible crimes taking place on the streets. The cctv's will have 24-hour coverage of the city streets to be monitored by the MMDA and PNP.

As for the complaints with the numerous u-turn slots in the city, Chairman Tolentino said that the only way to remove the u-turn slots, they should be replaced by more traffic signals.
Traffic signals in Metro Manila have not yet been replaced for the past 20 years due to budget constraints. This is way past the recommended replacement time of ten years. He suggested instead the restoration of mini-rotondas in the Metro because of its open space and more ecology-friendly structuring.
As for the request of commuters to add more u-turn slots along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, Chairman Tolentino said that whatever projects the MMDA will undertake in that area should be aligned to the long-term plans of MRT-7 which will soon be in operation within the Commonwealth vicinity.
